Click here for "About Division 1 Premier"
Division 1 (Premier) is the highest level of competitive soccer offered. Division 1 is for those players whose desire, natural ability and passion for the game make them want to develop their soccer ability to the highest level they can attain. Teams compete in the GSSL league (U10 through U11 play in the District 3 League) as well as USSL Super Y-League. Teams also attend tournaments, both in, and out of state, and are expected to be competitive in State-Cup play. At the U10 through U14 age groups continued emphasis is on developing a “love of the game” as well as development of skills needed to compete more successfully at the older ages. Division 1 players are those who have been identified as having “the right stuff” to develop into collegiate players. This division represents the highest level of commitment by both players and parents. Review the Program Highlights and Costs relating to this Division.

RAGE U11 PREMIER WINS STATE CUP

Click to EnlargeThe RAGE U11 Premier saved its most impressive performance of the year for the most important game of the year, the Nor Cal State Cup Championship held in Danville on Feb. 22. Playing in a steady rain for most of the game, the U11 Premier overwhelmed the Sacramento United Extreme with a 6-0 offensive barrage. Sophie Santos began the assault with a powerful shot from near the top of the box less than ten minutes into the match. Sami LaBella added the second goal of the afternoon moments later on a solo breakaway up the right side. Hanna Mallie made it 3 - nil later in the first half off an impressive assist from Maggie Kilday. The midfield work of Santos, Kilday, Heather Jackson, Hailey Mann and Olivia Christensen maintained ball possession for the majority of the game, while the work of the back line of Juliana Leedeman, Eilis Hegarty, Hannah McGillivray, Katlyn Franciskovich, and Kennedy Truex made the afternoon relatively uneventful for goalkeeper Sophia Brown. Though Extreme did manage to place a few shots on goal, Brown was more than up to the test each time. The second half belonged to forward Malissa Shadle, scoring a rare championship game "hat trick"- three goals, one a nice follow-up of a strong Heather Jackson shot. Mann and Carley Robertson also kept the pressure on the Extreme, keeping their back line and keeper on the defensive. Though on Injured Reserve, Brookey Villanueva braved the elements to provide encouragement and support, ensuring it was a complete team victory. "It's nice to win," head coach Nick Mangiardi told the team after the game. "But it's even nicer to have won playing good soccer."

10-21-08 U14 D1 AC TEAM IN FIRST PLACE!
Click to EnlargeThe Pleasanton RAGE U14 D1 AC team coached by Tim Bordley entered the final weekend of the season in first place. The next two games were against the 2nd and 3rd place teams – Newark and Castro Valley. Pleasanton Rage needed strong play to keep their hopes of a first place finish alive. The girls had been on a six game win streak that were all shutouts. This was accomplished with sound defense from Nicole Bardakos, Nicole Danner, Nickie Swinkels, Tori Laughton and Lindsey Allen, in addition to great goalkeeping from Brooke Quesinberry and Madi Beatty. The strong defense allowed only five goals all season. Saturday’s game pitted RAGE against a talented and physical Castro Valley team. The RAGE was unsuccessful in their bid for a 7th straight win but played hard. The midfield which includes Morgan Ebbitt, Laura Klein, Meredith Jaeger, Claire Berkeley and Kayla Hanscom, held their own but were unable to put a combination of passes together to help the offense score a goal. Castro Valley won 1-0 leadi ng to a showdown against rival and second place team Newark on Sunday. Sunday arrived finding both RAGE and Newark well prepared for a tough match. Both teams had several chances to score but again the goalkeeping of Beatty and Quesinberry kept the ball out of the net. Sara Cohen, Jesse Swinkels, Jenel Firneno and Arianna Barry combined to create several scoring opportunities but came up short of putting the ball in the net. The result after 70 minutes of tough, hard-nosed soccer was 0-0. The tie was good e nough for a first place finish for the Pleasanton RAGE team. CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!!! The team will take a break to allow several of the girls to play for their high school soccer teams, but will reunite for State Cup competition in March.

09-09-08 U-16 AC takes championship in Hotspurs Tourney in San Diego

Click to EnlargeRage U-16 won the championship in San Diego last weekend thanks to some well played soccer. Excellent bracket play led the Rage to the championship game.

Rage U-16 AC had their work cut out for them in the championship game as they faced Cypress FC, who they tied 1-1 in bracket play. Rage had most of the offensive opportunities in the championship game, but couldn't put the ball in the goal during regulation.

Cypress came close to scoring when goalie Lindsey Smith came out to pressure the striker. The striker attempted a shot that hit Smith's hand and started to bounce to the goal. Blair Stiers immediately covered goal and cleared the ball inches from scoring.

After a 0-0 tie, Smith mentally prepared for what was to be an exciting PK performance by the Rage kickers. The first two kickers for both teams scored easily. The Cypress kicker missed the third shot, hitting the crossbars, while Rage made theirs. Smith then made two game winning blocks, capping a stellar performance for Rage.

Last goal came from Larsen to Ewanich. Final score 5-0 Rage. The toughest battle of the tournament was for first place against Mustang Fury. 06-24-08 Santa Cruz - the ProAm Sand Soccer Tournament - U14AC
click to enlargeThe girls had an unbelievable experience and time to get to know each other . Coach Tim split the team into TWO teams, offensive and defensive. The defensive team (The Pleasanton Wave Crashers!) played 6 games - two on Saturday and four on Sunday. They were able to outplay 18 other teams and make their way to the finals. Although they lost 3-2, the weekend was a great success.

During the medal ceremony the girls learned the winning team (ACC Mavericks) was a U14 GSSL Gold team AND last years Sand Tournament Champion! In addition, both of the teams were able to advance, and as luck would have it, the Wave Crashers had to play both teams to make it to the Championship game! We were able to bring 4 Premier team players - Ketner, Roe, Thomas and Seely . - the girls with the medals (right side of the picture) are the Wave Crashers - Swinkels, Danner, Beatty, Laughton, Ebbitt, Swinkels and Allen. The first three girls on the left are our tireless supporters AND teammates - Berkley, Jaeger and Cohen!
